Cancellation Policy
How cancellations, charges, and refunds work on TripMiles.
1. Scope of this policy
This policy explains what happens when you cancel a flight booking made on TripMiles. It applies alongside the specific fare rules of the airline that operates your flight. Where the two differ, the airline’s rule prevails because the airline is the party actually holding the seat.
2. How cancellation charges are set
TripMiles does not decide, estimate, or negotiate cancellation charges. The airline sets them under the fare rule you accepted at booking. When you request a cancellation, we ask the airline what they will charge, show that number to you, and — if you confirm — pass the request to the airline and return the balance to you.
We add no separate cancellation service fee on top of the airline’s charge. If we ever do, it will be disclosed on the cancellation confirmation screen before you confirm.
3. Flight cancellations
3.1 Full cancellations only
Currently, TripMiles supports full-booking cancellation only — the entire PNR is cancelled for every passenger and every segment. Partial cancellations (cancel one passenger, or cancel one leg of a round-trip) are not offered online. If you need a partial cancellation, please write to support@tripmiles.com and we will attempt it manually where the airline permits.
3.2 Refundable vs non-refundable fares
Every fare on TripMiles carries a fare rule set by the airline. Some fares are non-refundable — cancelling them returns no money to you, only in some cases a residual on statutory taxes. Refundable fares return a balance after the airline’s cancellation charge. The fare rules are shown on the fare-rules screen before you pay; please review them.
3.3 Series and group fares
Special Series or group fares cannot be cancelled online. The supplier requires a manual request. If your booking is on such a fare, the cancel button in My Bookings is disabled and the screen asks you to contact support. Please write to support@tripmiles.com with your booking reference and we will raise the request with the supplier on your behalf.
3.4 No-shows and post-departure
If you do not travel and do not cancel before the airline’s cut-off, the booking is treated as a no-show under the airline’s rules. This almost always means zero refund; a small residual on statutory taxes may be recovered in some cases. Once a flight has departed, its segment can no longer be cancelled; only unused onward segments (if any) remain refundable per the airline’s rules.
3.5 Airline-initiated changes
If the airline cancels or materially reschedules a flight (typically a change of an hour or more, or a routing change), you are entitled to the airline’s standard remedy — usually a full refund or a re-booking on the next available flight without a change fee. In these cases, TripMiles will not deduct any cancellation charge; we pass the airline’s decision through to you.
4. How to cancel
- Open My Bookings from your account menu.
- Choose the flight booking you want to cancel.
- Tap Cancel booking. We will fetch the current cancellation charge from the airline and show it to you.
- Review the charge and the estimated refund, then confirm. Once confirmed the cancellation is irreversible.
- You will see the status on the same booking screen. A confirmation is also emailed to the contact on the booking.
If the cancel button is disabled or missing (e.g. Series-fare bookings, or bookings within the airline’s cut-off), please write to support@tripmiles.com.
5. Where the refund is returned
- Refunds go back to the original payment method. A card payment refunds to the same card; a UPI payment refunds to the same UPI account.
- If the booking was paid fully or partly from your TripMiles wallet, the corresponding portion is returned to the wallet — instantly credited on our side once the airline releases funds.
- Any amount paid using a promotional or paid coupon is not refunded in cash; the coupon value stands consumed once redeemed against the booking, per the coupon’s terms.
6. Refund timelines
Wallet refunds are credited immediately once the airline confirms cancellation and releases the balance.
Card, UPI, and net-banking refunds are initiated the same day the airline releases funds. Once initiated, the refund reaches your bank per the payment gateway and issuer’s timelines — typically 5 to 10 working days, though international cards may take longer. We share the refund reference in your booking screen so you can raise a query with your bank if it hasn’t landed.
7. Disputes and grievance
If your cancellation or refund goes wrong, please raise it with us first — most issues resolve inside a few working days.
Write to support@tripmiles.com with:
- Your booking reference (starts with TM).
- What you asked for and what you received.
- Any supporting screenshots or bank statements.
If the response does not resolve the issue, you may escalate under the grievance-officer process set out in our Terms and Conditions.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in airline behaviour, new payment methods, or regulatory guidance. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Bookings already made continue to be governed by the policy in force at the time of booking.
